Fire causes Laguna Beach power outage

Laguna Beach fire units monitor a location on South Coast Highway between Legion and Laguna streets after an electrical vault fire caused a power outage and sent smoke into the air Sunday. The outage effected local businesses and homes in the area. The highway was reopened about 11:30 a.m. after problem was solved.

A perfect view

A large crowd gathers on the end of Balboa Pier to view the 63rd annual Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race under clear skies and breezy conditions. Usually boats from Newport Harbor don’t sail so close to the end of the pier, but the boat race made for a unique opportunity for the public to see the boats up close.

Off to the races at Harbor View School

In honor of Chavez

Andersen School fourth-grader Conner Dean crawls on his hands and knees to pick radish in honor of Cesar Chavez Day at Incredible Edible Fields in Irvine. All the pickings go to Second Harvest Food Bank. Along with radish, Dean and several of his classmates picked green onions and cauliflower.
