‘Savages’ films in Laguna Beach

Main Beach became the set for the filming of "Savages," an Oliver Stone-directed movie, which includes actors Demian Bichir, middle, and Benicio Del Toro, right, who walk across the grass while filming a scene. Also in the movie are John Travolta, Salma Hayek and Emile Hirsch. (Don Leach)

David Naidus blows the candles out on his 100th birthday cake surrounded by friends, family and staff of the Park Newport luxury condo community, who threw him a party for his birthday. Naidus, a resident there for 12 years, also recieved one year of free rent from the staff, a value of about $25,000. (Don Leach, Daily Pilot)

Bettina Miller carefully arranges a custom order of red Roses in her spare time on Valentine's Day at her Every Bloomin Thing flower shop. Miller said the line was "out the door" when she opened, adding she would sell-out for sure before the day was done.
