Experts wait, look to monitor Japanese tsunami debris

Earlier this month, a beach visitor at Little Corona State Beach noticed an unusual piece of trash that had floated onto the beach: a roach can, apparently from Asia.

“My first thought was that it had made its way from the tsunami, as I had read the reports that debris might make its way toward us,” Kris Nicholas said in an email.

The can in question had Korean writing that says New Roach Kill and probably wasn’t from the March 2011 tsunami that devastated Japan.
