Officers make arrests during DUI checkpoint

Huntington Beach police made five arrests at a sobriety checkpoint March 20.

Drivers were checked from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. on Adams Avenue, west of Brookhurst Street,  for intoxication. Officers saw more than 500 vehicles, screened 176 for driving under the influence and conducted 18 field sobriety tests.

During the checkpoint, officers arrested three people on suspicion of DUI and made two criminal arrests. One other driver was cited for driving without a valid license.
